The Opium Wars
During the Opium wars the Chinese and the British were trading goods for each other . The British wanted the tea that the Chinese had but they refused so the British gave them opium so they can get addicted to it and they can trade the opium for tea. When the Chinese emperor figured out opium was addictive and killing off the population they decided to end opium trade and the British got upset and decided to attack the Chinese people. The Chinese lost the first opium war because of their lack in modern weapons and technology and they were unaware of the British surprise attack. They signed the treaty of Nanjing and that was what led to the seond opium war.

Some hardships that the Europeans faced during their expedition through Africa is that they were attacked by tribes that existed in the dessert area and many bugs like mosquito's that would malaria. In the film John Speke was being bit by bugs and one crawled into his ear. Lake Victoria is named after a British queen because it was founded by two British men John Speke and Richard Burden. Africa was easily conquered because the Europeans established automatic weapons like machine guns and the African people was still using spears and that's how they were able to conquer the Africans so easily.

Meiji Restoration of Japan
Matthew Perry bullied the Japanese by showing off his military power and his naval ships to try and intimidate them and show how advanced and modernized the west was compared to Japan. The U.S and Japan signed a treaty saying that japan had to open up their ports for trade and Japan tried to fight off the Europeans because they didn't want to trade with them but they lost the battles because of Europe's technology. Before the U.S came to japan they were an isolationist and cut themselves off from the rest of the world and they were still fighting with swords on horses while the west was using machine guns and japan still had the same government they had years ago. Japan was an archipelago, which is a small group of islands it was easier for people to trade with japan this way.

Karl Marx and the Industrial Revolution
Karl Marx believed that the factories should be owned by the workers and not the landlords he helped the workers unite to form a world wide revolution. He believed all workers should share wealth which means everyone should get paid an equal amount he also believed that workers had become an appendage to the machines which means after they would finish work they would repeat and make similar motions as if they were still controlling the machine because the constantly repeated the same thing over and over again for about 16 hours or so.
Karl Marx also felt that since there were more workers than owners the workers would get fed up and revolt and just start a revolution to take control and he actually encouraged this idea. With the idea off communism everyone would get paid the same amount of money and there is no social class so everyone gets treated equal and everything is controlled by the government so you cant have any private owned businesses.
So Karl Marx idea of the Industrial revolution is that he felt it wasn't fair to the workers and that's how they cam up with the idea of communism.

Robespierre and the Reign of Terrer
The Reign of Terror began shortly after the French revolution. Soon after the kings queens and the nobles lost power things began to be more democratic but the people who gained power didn't use it very well. Then this street gang called the Jacobin's started to run France and used the guillotine to kill all the people who they suspected were against them and they ended up killing King Louis the XVI. Then some one else rose to power a man name Maximilien Robespierre. He acted as a dictator and started to cut every ones heads off with the guillotine and wiped out all traces of the old monarchy's and thought the churches were old fashion so they remained closed and he also altered the calender by removing Sundays.

The French Revolution
1. The peasants didnt like the fact that the nobles and the clergy payed no taxes and didnt believe believe the king cared about them.
2. The French peasants mainly complained about paying high taxes and being the only people that had to be in the military.
3. The cartoon is explaining that the peasant is holding the king and the noble on his back. Its stating the peasant has to support the kind and the nobles because with out them paying their taxes and being in the military.
4. Its just stating that the French man has to pay heavy taxes and give up a lot of livestock and grain. He said that the taxes are crushing them.
5. I say it does show why they resented the rich because the rich didn't pay taxes despite having way more money and some one with hand skills like a master carpenter got payed less than a typical priest.
6. The people that would be most influenced by a democratic form of government would be the U.S becuase after we got our freedom they were trying to find out what form of government to have and they came up with a democracy.
7. I think it was banned because it went against everything the French believed in and it was banned probably by the king because why would he not want absolute control over his people.

John Locke and the Enlightenment
John Locke was the most famous person during the enlightenment. The enlightenment was influenced by the scientific revolution and new things were taking place like there were no longer kings and monarchs and John Locke believed in a government ran by the people which is a democracy. He had a very modern view of the world and thought that every one in the world was born equally. He also said if the government failed to do its job helping and benefiting the citizens they had the right to overthrow them.
The basis of the U.S Constitution was thought of because of the enlightenment, they talked about separation of powers which is similar to the checks and balances that the U.S government has.
So in other words the U.S got most of their ideas from the Constitution and declaration of independence from the enlightenment and John Locke.

Trial of Galileo
The trail of Galileo was about Galileo getting arrested for agreeing with Copernicus theory of the sun being the center of the universe and not the earth . He was sentenced to trial after agreeing with that theory because of the churches believing that the center of the universe was earth and not the sun, during those times you couldn't oppose to the churches judgement so he was arrested. Galileo was able to find out that the theory through a telescope and it showed him that the earth was the one revolving because the sun doesn't rotate it stands there, so he believed in Copernicus theory and this was called heliocentric.
Geocentric was the theory that earth was the center of the universe and everything else revolved around it. Geocentric started before heliocentric was approved, heliocentric was approved by the church in 1664. So the church believed in geocentric up until 1664 when it was approved that the earth and everything around it revolved around the sun.

Scientific Method
The Scientific Method is a method used to test experiments. In the scientific method there are five steps that are used in sequence to gain information about the subject tested. Scientist used this type of method to gain quick information about the test subject or theory. The five steps in the scientific method are Scientific Theory, Hypothesis testing, Hypothesis building, Analysis and Observation. Each of the steps are taken and used to collect data and if there is a problem while testing the subject they can always backtrack and see what went wrong while testing.
Scientists used the scientific method to prove or disprove many of the theories that old scientist believed in because you cant just accept something without proof. Scientist are alwasys trying to prove eachothers theories its so we cana correct their mistakes because everyone makes mistakes like Aristotles theory he didnt teste probably so thats why it was proven wrong.

Evolution vs Creation
The Theory of Evolution started when Charles Darwin believed that everything came from a common ancestor. He believed that a thing called natural selection was a cause of the genetic mutations within the animal or plant, like if a mother species was able to fly it would pass on these attributes to the offspring therefore passing it down from generation to generation. The species going through natural selection will eventually die out thus the reason why there are extinct animals and plants.
Now Creationism is a religious belief that everything on the earth was made by God. Creationism rejected Darwin's Theory of Evolution and the evolution theory was banned from teaching and not allowed in public text books until the 1960s. There has yet to be a conclusion whether or not which theory is true and scientist today still cannot find an answer to these puzzling theories.
What my opinion is to these theories are that they are both correct in their on way. I think this because if the evolution theory says we came from this micro organism where did that one organism come from it couldn't have popped out of no where so i believe it was placed there by God and it slowly evolved into grass, trees, animals, and eventually humans. So basically my theory is they both worked together to bring life on earth.
